Lovely Advent Hymn
In a search for information about how much greenery to use for my Advent wreath—information sadly not forthcoming, by the way—I found a delightful video of a boys choir singing an Advent hymn I had never heard before.
It’s highlighted on the Diocese of Washington’s blog—go read the reflection and watch the video, and see if that music doesn’t make you want to rejoice.

hey, there, that is a lovely hymn and the choir in the video ain’t too shabby neither. I have heard the tune before: it was familiar to me. To bad I haven’t done it. Now, in a spirit of reciprocity, check out my facebook profile, scroll down to my two postings on Thanksgiving Day: ee cummings reading his poem “i thank You, God, for most this amazing. . . ” and Eric Whitacre’s choral setting of the same text, sung by CSULB. I believe they’re cut from the same cloth as the Gerard Manley Hopkins poem you posted recently. Sorry to read about your own personal Black Friday. I wish you had been with us. We are your kindred spirits down here, you know. Especially Matt and I (Matt and me?). In any case, thanks for the postings: I’ve been anxiously awaiting them, checking several times a week for awhile now.
Love you, Julie!

Guess What!?!? I thought I recognized the tune. It’s called “PUER NOBIS” and in the OCP Breaking Bread books for 2010, it’s # 109, “What Star is This With Beams so Bright”. It’s absolutely delightful whatever the text and, yes, it dances!

It’s in Gather Comprehensive, too, #378. It is a delightful tune. I cannot stop thinking it (or, for that matter, conducting it).
